Drawing studio

It's good if, wandering around this world, from time to time you can come across an island that reminds you of the moments you spent there. Then the heart overflows with gratitude that you have also been there. A drawing studio is also such an island, where both those who learn to draw only for the first year and those who have been doing it for several years come. Since its foundation in 1977, the studio was led by the artist and teacher Uldis Roga.

In the studio, scenographers Aigars Ozoliņš and Mārtiņš Vilkārsis, architects Andis Sīlis and Aija Ziemejniece, painters Ieva Vītola-Lindkvista and Anda Bushkevicas, graphic artist Kate Seržāne, designer and art teacher Ilona Drīliņa, ceramist Ivanda Spulle-Meiere, director of Jelgava Art School Anda have acquired high drawing skills in the studio. Stankevich and many others.

New students are admitted to the studio every year. Every spring, a drawing studio is held. See the works of the participants. This exhibition is like a laboratory - here you can see the so-called "black" work of students. In the studio, he learns the basics of academic drawing: geometric figures, plaster heads, still lifes.

Since January 2023, the work started by U. Roga in the studio has been taken over by the artist and teacher Kristine Weinberga.
