The Jelgava Chamber Orchestra has a very important place in the cultural life of Jelgava today. It was founded in 2005, and since its creation, the artistic director and conductor of the orchestra is Aigars Meri. In his ambitious projects, A. Meri has been able to combine choirs, orchestras, big bands and soloists. Musical productions such as Imanta Kalniņš's oratorio "Morning Act", fragments from Zigmar Liepiņš's rock opera "Lāčplēsis", "Mystery of Dream and Love" by Jānis Lūsēns and Māras Zālīte, stage oratorio by Līgas Celmas - Kursiete and Kārlis Vērdins " Thank you, Saule!", Pēter Butāns' symphonic collage "Pūt, vējini!", "Jersikas derība" by Līgas Celma - Kursiete, Raimonda Paula and Māras Zālīte's musical poem "Forest Swans".

The Jelgava Chamber Orchestra has established a good cooperation with the Jelgava Big Band, with which several non-academic concert programs have been created with well-known and beloved soloists in Latvia.

Every year, Jelgava Chamber Orchestra's Tribulation concerts, academic music concert as part of the City Festival, National Day concerts, in which the string orchestra and choirs of the Jelgava Music High School participate together with the chamber orchestra, have already become a tradition.

The Jelgava Chamber Orchestra has also performed important premieres in the life of Latvian music - Gija Kančeli's "Simi", Antonio Kaldar's "Stabat Mater" and Emanuëls d'Astorga's "Stabat Mater".

The Jelgava Chamber Orchestra is always on a new quest to offer the listeners a diverse and interesting repertoire, such as Joaquin Rodrigo's "Aranhues concert", William Russo's "Street Music" concert for harmonica, piano and orchestra.
