A gathering of ice superheroes in Jelgava!

From February 7 to 9, meet the most beloved superheroes in Jelgava, the largest ice sculpture festival in the Baltics! More than 60 works of ice art, demonstration duels, pyrotechnics and light shows, as well as a wide cultural program together with Latvian superstars.

For the 22nd year, the city of Jelgava invites you to enjoy the magic of amazing ice art. This year, together with 30 professional sculptors from all over the world, we will let our imaginations run wild and bring our superpowers to life in the biggest gathering of ice superheroes. Meeting place – Pasta Island, J. Čakste Bulvāris and open-air concert hall "Mītava".

SUPERHEROES FROM HOLLYWOOD, HISTORY BOOKS AND OUR EVERYDAY

Although we most often associate superheroes with Hollywood movie heroes and their adventures, it is always worth remembering that heroes also live among the legends, pages of history and everyday life of our own peoples. That's how different and surprising the sculptures of the 22nd International Ice Sculpture Festival competition will be 30 world-renowned sculptors from 7 countries.

Virtuously interpreting the theme of the festival "Superheroes", this time also the artists of the competition will demonstrate their skills in two categories. In total, creating 45 unique works of ice art, the highest of which will be almost 3 meters. Sculptors will arrive in Jelgava on February 2 and work on the sculptures will continue throughout the week.

During the festival, together with the sculptures of the competition, the guests of the festival will also enjoy the traditional "Ice wines" ice bar, created by Latvia's most titled sculptor Kārlis Īle and his team, and in terms of the amount of ice used, it will be the biggest object of the festival. There will also be attractions for children and photo sculptures.

On the other hand, for the first time visitors will be given the opportunity to observe the ice and sand sculpture meeting, because the large sculpture of the summer festival - the sphinx with pyramids - has been preserved on the island of Pasta, which will be specially illuminated.

EXCLUSIVE ICE ART DEMONSTRATION AND EXTENSIVE CULTURAL PROGRAM

Winter does not spoil us, but there is no reason to worry, there will be ice in Jelgava. All three days of the festival actively creating new ice objects, the best sculptors from Latvians and Lithuanians will demonstrate their superpowers in various demonstration duels and shows. The audience will be delighted again this year fast or "flash sculptures", the making of which could be seen for the first time last year. 

For the first time, we will also celebrate the holiday in the new open-air concert hall "Mītava" under the roof, where the youngest guests of the event are invited to go on fun games throughout the day, watch demonstrations of magic tricks and participate in various exciting master classes. During the holidays, the ice skating rink nearby "Pasta salas" will also be open.

On the other hand, in the evening program on the main stage of the festival on J. Čakste boulevard, popular musicians in Latvia will perform - Astro'n'out, Franco Franco, Ralfs Eiland, A-Europa, Singapore Satin and many others. At the end of the evening, fireworks and light games.

Also, in cooperation with the club "Tonuss" and "The Blow", a novelty at the festival will be DJs at the entrances of the Pasta Island and Čakste Boulevard, who will welcome visitors by playing music, reporting on current events and announcing information about the program.

The visitors of the event are invited to dress according to the weather conditions and before going to Jelgava to familiarize themselves with the traffic organization scheme, which will also be available during the festival in the mobile app "Waze".
