The application for the 20th International Sand Sculpture festival “SUMMER SIGNS 2026”, which will take place in Jelgava from May 16th to May 23rd, is open! 

Sculptors will bring to life this year’s theme “Stories of the Jurassic” by using sand. Artists are invited to apply by filling out the official application form until March 25th.

The theme “Stories of the Jurassic” invites artists to step into an ancient world where dinosaurs roamed vast forests, mysterious creatures ruled the seas, and the first masters of the skies glided above. This era reflects not only the power and scale of prehistoric life, but also the ideas of survival, balance, struggle, and harmony between life and nature.

Sculptors are encouraged to bring this primeval world to life in sand, blending scientific inspiration with imagination to create monumental and breathtaking artworks that transport visitors to a time when nature itself shaped the rules of the world.

According to the European Union, artists from Russia and Belarus, as well as citizens of Russia or Belarus, who represent another country, may not participate in the sand sculpture competition and festival.
