Folk Applied Art Studio "Dardedze"

Folk applied art studio "Dardedze" was founded in 1963. In 1974, the name of the People's Applied Art Studio was granted. For more than 35 years, studio manager Ingrīda Ozolniece has been giving Jelgavnieku Dardedzei a unique range of colors. 

In the studio, the skills of weaving and knotting are learned. Based on the values of the ethnographic heritage of the Latvian people, the members of the studio make contemporary applied art products: blankets, tablecloths, scarves, decorative fabrics, floor mats, pillows, etc.

The source of inspiration for compositions and combinations of color tones is basically in the diversity of nature. Studio exhibitions are thematically oriented. The most important of them in recent years: "Liedags", "Forest and meadow", "Latvia - the most beautiful land", "From dew drop to sea", "Dedication to Latvian nature".

TLMS "Dardedze" actively participates in all national exhibitions. The activity of the studio has been repeatedly evaluated with awards from the Ministry of Culture. The President of the Republic of Latvia, Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, who was given the scarf of "Dardedze" member A. Spalviņas, also praised this creation: "Your woven scarf is very delicately woven and the combination of colors is exceptionally harmonious. I will wear it with pleasure - I will mention you in gratitude."
