The class from Ikšķile secondary school wins the collage competition of the Ice Sculpture Festival
26. January, 2023.
The collage competition of the International Ice Sculpture Festival received 55 applications from all over Latvia this year. By creatively interpreting the theme "Ice sculpture of my dreams", the 4th class of Ikškile secondary school in Ogre region became the winners of the competition.
This year, collages were sent to the competition from Limbaži, Īslīce, Riga, Salaspils, Jēkabpils, Dobele, Ludza, Jelgava and other Latvian cities. It was not easy for the jury commission of the authors of the most relevant and interesting work to choose the topic. The children interpreted the theme of the contest in different ways - for some, they were their favorite characters from fairy tales and movies. On the other hand, others saw ice sculptures in everyday things – vehicles, animals found in nature, flowers or trees. The jury especially appreciated the fact that the children used different techniques and even three dimensions when creating collages.
After several rounds of consideration of submitted works, the 4th grade of Ikškile secondary school, which created the collage "Miera dūja", was chosen as the winner. Pupils win invitations and fully paid transport services to get to the 24th International Ice Sculpture Festival in Jelgava, provided by SIA "Maverik".
On the other hand, promotion prizes - invitations to the 24th International Ice Sculpture Festival in Jelgava are won by the 1st - 4th grade group of the Nordic Gymnasium; 2nd and 3rd grade of Birzgale elementary school; Jurmala State Gymnasium 1st - 4th grade club group; Grades 1, 3 and 4 of Pastende Elementary School; as well as the 2nd c class of Dobele secondary school.
