Jelgava is looking for masterpieces! Application for the International Sand Sculpture Park "SUMMER SIGNS 2022" has been announced.

Applications have been announced for the 16th International Sand Sculpture Park "Summer Signs 2022", which will be held in Jelgava from May 30 to June 5. Sculptors will bring the theme "Masterpieces" to life in the sand. It is possible to apply by filling out the official application form, on the festivali.jelgava.lv website, artists are invited until March 28.

"The most recognizable work of art of Renaissance sculpture - Michelangelo's sculpture "David"; the world's most famous painting – Leonardo da Vinci's “Mona Lisa”; The Great Pyramid of Giza; Victoria water lily, whose leaf diameter can exceed 2.5 meters and can hold up to 45 kilograms of weight; a chameleon that changes color under the influence of its environment; modern technologies - these are all masterpieces created by man, nature or the universe, masterpieces that take your breath away for a moment. We want to let the visitors of this year's Sand Sculpture Festival experience this feeling of admiration, surprise, and inspiration, giving them the opportunity to get to know outstanding achievements, masterpieces, and masterpieces," says the festival announcement. The institution "Kultūra" invites sculptors to see the masterpieces around them - not only the world-famous and admired for hundreds of years, but also those that fill our everyday life.

The jury commission will select 15 sculptors to participate in the park, who will have the opportunity to realize their sketches in the sand. The selected artists will work in the sand sculpture park on Post Island from May 30 to June 3, but everyone will be able to appreciate the work of the sculptors from June 4.

Submit your sketch projects to the site festivali.jelgava.lv sculptors can until March 28. The regulations are also available there. When considering the applications, the reflection of the theme, the artistic expression and the technical performance will be evaluated.

Referring to the current geopolitical situation, participation in the exhibition is denied to artists representing Russia. We hope for the stabilization of the situation in the future.
