The second day of the 22nd International Ice Sculpture Festival has been completed

The second day of the 22nd International Ice Sculpture Festival has passed in Jelgava with fun play shows, sculpture demonstrations and a wide cultural program. Despite the weather, the children's laughter filled the Post Island from the very morning. Never stop enjoying the interactive ice photo objects and sculptures depicting famous superheroes from Hollywood movies, fairy-tale books and everyday life.  

This year, the morning program of the second and third days of the festival is especially dedicated to the smallest guests of the festival. For the first time, the new open-air concert hall "Mītava" under the roof is used for the event, where, regardless of the weather, children went on fun games and got to know various fairy-tale characters in nine frozen ice objects.

This year Jelgav residents and city guests especially enjoyed various interactive ice photo sculptures created by one of Latvia's best sculptors, Kārlis Īle and his team. Dispelling doubts whether there will be ice in Jelgava all day long, artists Ainars Zingniks and Agnese Rudzīte - Kirillova created new ice artworks to supplement the already existing range of sculptures.

In the evening program on the central stage of the festival, on Jānis Čakste boulevard, duels of sculpture-making demonstrations together with Sanita Rāviņa and Agnes Rudzīti – Kirillova. As well as a wide concert program with Latvian favorite musicians - Franco Franco, X Factor 2019 stars and Opus Pro. Festive fireworks at the end of the evening.

On the other hand, tomorrow, February 9, we will meet on the final day of the ice superhero gathering! The festival's working hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. In the first half of the day, we will continue with exciting play shows for children and sculpting demonstrations. But already in the evening the concert program with A – EUROPA, Ralph Eiland and Saina of Singapore. As well as sculpting demonstration duels, fireworks and light games. 

More than 65 ice sculptures made by 40 world-renowned sculptors can be seen in the territory of the 22nd International Ice Sculpture Festival - Jānis Čakste Boulevard, Post Island and the open-air concert hall "Mītava". More about the winners of the competition HERE.

Due to changing weather conditions, the event program may be subject to change. 

The visitors of the event are invited to dress according to the weather and before going to Jelgava to familiarize themselves with the traffic organization scheme, which will also be available in the Waze mobile app during the festival.
