History<\/strong>
The mixed choir \"Zemgale\" was founded in 1961 as a teachers' choir of Jelgava city and district. The folk choir \"Zemgale\" is led by great personalities. In the very beginning, Imants Kokars stood at the control panel of the choir. He was also the initiator of the formation of the choir and led the choir from 1961 to 1967. After I. Kokars, the leadership of the choir was continued by Ir\u0113na Jermaka, but for the longest time - almost 20 years - the choir was led by conductor Viesturs Liepi\u0146\u0161, an exceptionally sensitive musician, interpreter and pedagogue, who took over \"Zemgali\" in the early 1970s, when it had already acquired the name \"Tautas choir\". Later, Jelena Vavilova - Oglezneva (artistic director of the choir until autumn 1998) took over the leadership of the choir. Choirmasters J\u0101nis Schwartzbach and Gunta Drozdova worked in the same team with J. Vavilova. Conductors Zita Kur\u0161eva, Ilva Krauze, Dita M\u016brniece, Laura Leontjeva have also worked with \"Zemgali\" at different times. Since 2002, the young conductor Aigars Meri, rich in creative ideas, has taken over the management of the mixed choir, staging new and interesting repertoire, successfully participating in several international choir competitions. The choir starts the 2009 season with the new conductor Zani Stafeckas and choirmaster Inga Leyland, but from 2012, the choir, in tandem with Z. Stafeckas, is led by conductor Guntis Pavilons.<\/p>\n

Liepi\u0146a rokoper\u0101 ”L\u0101\u010dpl\u0113sis”, J. L\u016bs\u0113na ”Mist\u0113rij\u0101 par sapni un m\u012blest\u012bbu”. 2006. gad\u0101 koris kop\u0101 ar kameransambli ”Altera Veritas”, ”R\u012bgas Kamerm\u016bzi\u0137u” st\u012bgu kvartetu un citiem m\u016bzi\u0137iem piedal\u012bj\u0101s A. Dzen\u012b\u0161a ska\u0146darba ”Pavasara r\u012bts” pirmatska\u0146ojum\u0101. 2007. gad\u0101 pirmo reizi tika iestud\u0113ta jelgavnieces L. Celmas sc\u0113nisk\u0101 oratorija ”Paldies, Saule!”, bet 2012. gad\u0101 koris piedal\u012bj\u0101s L. Celmas oratorijas \u201cJersikas der\u012bba\u201d un R. Tigula oratorijas \u201cDod, dievi\u0146i\u201d iestud\u0113jum\u0101. Savuk\u0101rt 2013. gad\u0101 koris \u201cZemgale\u201d iestud\u0113 Baltijas valstu komponistu lielas formas ska\u0146darbus, atska\u0146ojot tos pa\u0161u organiz\u0113t\u0101 starptautisk\u0101 koncert\u0101 \u201cBalta m\u016bzika balt\u0101 pils\u0113t\u0101\u201d, bet sadarb\u012bb\u0101 ar kori \u201cSidrabe\u201d un komponistu J\u0101ni L\u016bs\u0113nu piedal\u0101s koncertcikl\u0101 \u201cSauli mekl\u0113jot\u201d.<\/p>\n

Success<\/strong>
Mixed choir \"Zemgale\" has also competed in international choir competitions and festivals with notable success: in 2005 in Budapest (Hungary), competing in two categories, the choir won two \"silver\" diplomas; In 2006, the choir received a \"bronze\" diploma in P\u00e4rnu (Estonia); In 2007, he obtained a 2nd degree diploma in Minsk (Belarus); In 2008, he received a 2nd degree diploma in Bialystok\/Hainowka (Poland). In Belarus and Poland, the choir took part in sacred music competitions, playing compositions by G. Pele\u010d, A. Pert, A. \u0160nitke, P. Chesnakov and A. Arkhangelski. At the beginning of 2009, the choir \"Zemgale\" took part in the VIII international sacred music festival \"Sudraba Zvani\" in Daugavpils, obtaining a 1st degree diploma. In April 2009, at the International Choral Music Festival \"Tallinn 2009\" in Estonia, they won 2nd place and a cash prize in the folk music category.<\/p>\n
